From: A&J DaCosta Subject: PERKINS Date: Sat, 14 Dec 1996 15:34:07 -0600 Hello, I noticed that your research names included PERKINS, and I have an aunt (Ivy Blakeney) who married Andrew Perkins about 1928 -1930, and they had about ten children. The two oldest were Henry and Jewell. I am trying to locate this family as Ivy is my Mother's baby sister. If you are related to this family please tell me how to get in touch with them. The reason that I thought that it may be my family is the fact that they were somehow mixed up with a HOISINGTON family back in the early 1940's and were at Camp Wood, Texas. My mother was Minnie Blakeney, daughter of Henry Blakeney and Eda Elizabeth Rogers. She had another siste (Amy)who died about 1980, and brother Frank who is still living. If anyone can help I would appreciate it very much. Thanks in advance, Juanita DaCosta =====================================================================================From: Harriette Jensen Subject: Hoisington Mailing List Date: Tue, 31 Dec 1996 16:38:46 -0800 Hi, Bonnie, WELCOME to the HOISINGTON Family list. ************* There is a lot of important information in this message, including general information about lists as well as specific information about this list. Date: Tue, 31 Dec 1996 16:38:55 -0800 Hi, I would like to introduce myself to the list and hope the rest of you will do the same. My name is Harriette Jensen and I am a Hoisington by way of my grandmother Clara Alice Hoisington Morris (1898-1964) from Crescent OK. Eight months ago, I knew relatively little about my Hoisington ancestors other than they participated in the Oklahoma Land Run of 1893. I had grown up looking at my grandmother's pictures, more out of curiosity than of any family feeling. Grandma used to tell me stories about her immediate family and I knew several of them, but there was never much said about where they came from. And as a child, I never thought to ask. Too bad. Now that my grandmother is gone, I find myself saying "Grandma would know that..." a lot. My mother is very little help. I found out that one of the reasons no one talked about ancestors is that my Morris grandparents were first cousins and, although they were accepted by the family, no one brought the subject of ancestry up much unless they were talking about the current generations. I never knew that they had been in this country since the 1600s. My "feeling" was that, since the first date I had was a birthdate of 1824 and no place of birth, they probably came over as bond servants about that time. How wrong I was! I have traced them back to KS, IA, OH, VT, CT, and Long Island, NY. I have found that there are several Hoisington manuscripts in the LDS library written by cousins I never knew. I have found out that there are Hoisingtons in every state in the United States that I have searched and are probably in all the others, also. I have even heard from a Hoisington in Canada but have lost her address due to a hard drive crash. I have learned that we are all related. So, now I'm very busy trying to fill in the puzzle pieces. Obviously, this has become an obsession since I spend so many hours on the computer evenings and weekends after my 40 hour work week on another computer. My house is stacked with papers, notes, books, and floppy disks. My dog looks at me wistfully, wondering when I will take him for a walk. I had hoped to put the Harry Hoisington "Hoisington in America" list of names online and may still do so. However, I have found that his list, while large (over 1100 names), is full of holes,is inaccurate in some cases, and totally leaves off any descendants through the female lines. Also, he forgot (??) to list any of my gg-grandfather Jesse Hawkins Hoisington's children by his second marriage (my line). He did mention my gg-grandmother, Clara Agnes Perkins, however, as his second wife. I am in the process of taking H.H.'s list and integrating it with my list (700+ names), and the SSDI records I got at the local Family History Center. However, that is going to take some time....probably at least two weeks. I currently have the HH list online and could send it to you in chunks. I would like to hear from you and see which list you would like to receive, if any, and how you would like to proceed. Plus, don't forget to introduce yourselves. Oh, and before I forget....in case you think we may not all be related, this is my lineage: Eben John Horsington (1650/1655 England - John of Farmington (1690/1693 CT - 1728) John of Southington (1713 CT - 1777 ??) Joab Hoisington (1736 -1777 VT Barzava Zebulon Hoisington (1782 VT - 1835 OH) Jesse Hawkins Hoisington (1824 OH - 1894 KS) Daniel Jesse Hoisington (1861 IA - 1913 OK) Clara Alice Hoisington (1898 OK - 1964 CA) Clara Beatrice Morris (1922 OK - ) Harriette Hardin Jensen (1940 OK - ) Hope to hear from you soon.
