From: Harriette Jensen Subject: Introductions, please! Date: Mon, 13 Jan 1997 23:31:34 -0800 Hi, everybody. I just wanted to start this list off with a suggestion that everyone introduce themselves. There aren't many of us, only four right now, so it's just an intimate little group. So say Hi! Most of you already know me. I'm Harriette Jensen, the "listmaster" of the Hoisington list. I live in San Jose, CA and my immediate connection to the Hoisington Family is my grandmother, Clara Alice Hoisington Morris. I started looking for my Hoisington relatives about eight months ago and have so far found a couple thousand dead ones and a few live ones. I thought I'd post what I have so far in bits and pieces. I don't know what kind of equipment you all have, but I have a well-worn MAC IIsi and not a very big hard disk right now (had a crash on my big hard disk in November and still haven't gotten a replacement online). I can take medium large files (say 200K or so) but wouldn't like to try larger ones right now. Most of the information I have other than dates and names is on the Hoisingtons (and collateral families) in OK and CA and some that I got from Lou Tharp (Hi, Lou) on KS and VT. I have been able to piece my line all the way back to John Horsington in the late 1600s with a possible father for him (Eben). I would like to use this list to share and get info and to get to know you all better. I would also like to know what you would like to get from the list. So, if you would....introduce yourselves to the rest of the list. I didn't see any problem with the server, at least I did receive your first message to the list.:) I actually did start to write an intro to the list after your message came through, and other things got in the way. Anyway, Hello to all of you! I am Bonnie Stevens Dannenberg. I grew up in Vermont, and that's where my Hoisington line begins. My maternal great Grandfather is LYMAN JUDSON CLOUGH. Born 6 April 1850 in Rochester, Vermont. Married ELLEN LAPOINT on 11 December, 1887. (Second marriage). And he died 7 July, 1922 in Walden, Vermont. His mother was CAIRA HOISINGTON, born 3 March, 1815. She died on 25 July 1891. CAIRA was married to JAMES MADISON CLOUGH. I *believe* Caira's parents are SAYLES HOISINGTON and ABIGAIL DAVIS. SAYLES born 1 September 1793 to ELIAS and MARY STOWELL HOISINGTON. ABIGAIL, wife of SAYLES d. 25 July 1867 age 76 Little Hollow Cem. - Rochester. ELIAS m. MARY STOWELL 7 March 1782 Windsor ELIAS d. 15 Jan 1810 Rev. Soldier - Old South Cem - Windsor Going forward: LYMAN CLOUGH and ELLEN LAPOINT had one daughter. EVA MAY CLOUGH. EVA m. JOSEPH THEOPHILUS JOYAL. Thier oldest child, MARGARET ELIZABETH JOYAL, is my mother. At present I don't have documentation for anyone before CAIRA. However, my mother is in the process of copying several hundred HOISINGTON pages, that she retrieved from a CLOUGH cousin in R.I. The main reason I was waiting to post to this list was to give myself some time to put all this new information together and obtain the documentation for it. I'll post again when I have time to sit down and go through it.:) And I'd like to thank Harriette for putting the list together for us! It's a great idea, and I hope we'll be able to help each other. HOISINGTON was one of the lines I was "stuck" on for a long time. Thanks to Harriette, my mother, and my Clough cousin, I'm not stuck any more. Looking forward to reading lots more about HOISINGTONS! :) Bonnie - bonnie@capital.net ====================================================================================== From: Harriette Jensen Subject: TEST but Please Read Date: Tue, 21 Jan 1997 07:37:07 -0800 Larry Stephens (MAISER) says that he has been having some "intermittent" mail problems. I sent out a message a couple of days ago asking everyone (all four of us) to introduce ourselves. So, please don't be shy.
